CBT was founded in 1991 as a ministry to reach the Hispanic people in the Greater New York area. We began our services in Van Cortland Park in the Bronx, where we met for six consecutive Sundays until a door opened for us at a Lutheran Church in upper Manhattan. We met there for almost five years for Sunday and Tuesday night services, after which time the Lord provided us with our own building in the Bronx where we have been meeting since 1996.

From the beginning of our ministry we have seen God’s faithfulness manifested in His wonderful provision, protection, presence, in His power to change lives for His glory. Also, for the last few years the Lord has led us to start services in English as well as Spanish in order to reach other ethnic groups as well.

At the present time we hold Sunday morning services in both English (10:00 am) and Spanish (11:30 am), and children’s Sunday School, a Teen Club on Fridays to reach the youth (6:30 pm) and Saturday morning Discipleship Bible classes to instruct and equip people in Biblical principles.

We also support missionaries in various countries, such as the United Kingdom, Greece, Spain, Ecuador and Colombia, Paraguay, and Liberia.

Our main purpose is to glorify God, and to make Him known to as many people as possible, as we preach and teach His Word, the Bible. Our theme verse is found in the Gospel of John 17:3, “And this is life eternal, that they might know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”

Statement of Faith

We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament to be the verbally and plenary inspired Word of God. The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible and God-breathed, and therefore are the final authority for faith and life.

We believe in a Triune God, eternally existing in three person—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—each co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, coequal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections.

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God but that in Adam’s sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God. Man is totally depraved and of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God became 100% man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice; and , that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven, and is now exalted at the right hand of God, where, as our High Priest He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate.

We believe that Salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. We believe that all sins, except blasphemy of the Holy Spirit are forgivable

We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ Forever. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment.

We believe that sanctification is the divine action through which the believer is separated for God and is realized in 3 forms:

1. An eternal act of God based on the redemptive work of Christ, whom places the believer in a position of sanctification the moment that they trust in our Lord and Savior.

2. A continual process in the believer as the Holy Spirit applies the Word of God in their life.

3. The process of Sanctification will reach its completion at the Second coming of Our Lord. We believe in that “blessed hope,” the personal, imminent return of Christ Who will rapture the saved prior to the seven-year tribulation period. At the end of the Tribulation, Christ will personally and visibly return with His saints, to establish His earthly Messianic Kingdom, which was promised to the nation of Israel.

We believe that God has given the church a great commission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations so that there might be a great multitude from every nation, tribe, ethnic group, and language group who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. As ambassadors of Christ we must use all available means to go to the foreign nations and not wait for them to come to us.

We believe that Satan is a person, the author of sin and the cause of the Fall of Man; that he is the open and declared enemy of God and man; and that he shall be eternally punished in the Lake of Fire.

We believe that God created the universe in six literal, 24-hour periods. We reject evolution, the Gap Theory, the Day-Age theory, and Theistic Evolution as unscriptural theories of origin.
